By Newsbreak Producer Matthew Veeran - With the current 10% increase in electricity prices already a major concern, consumers will be even harder hit come July - when municipalities hike up their Nersa-approved tariffs. What that means is that from July this year, the cost of electricity will increase by at least 15% depending on ones municipality. Couple these hikes with South Africa's rising fuel prices - and the future looks rather bleak for the average consumer. Matthew Cruise of Hohm Energy says its now time that South Africans strongly consider green or solar energy. A former Eskom employee, Cruise says given the current pressure on Eskom's ageing infrastructure, the price of electricity could soar by as much as 300% over the next five years...
