By Newsbreak Producer Matthew Veeran - The University of Pretoria's Mamelodi Campus recently provided the backdrop for a new project that empowers teachers to start mini sensory gardens at their creches and pre-schools. A sensory garden is defined as a self-contained area that allows people to enjoy a wide variety of experiences and are designed to provide opportunities to stimulate the senses, both individually and in combination. Director of the Mamelodi Campus, Professor Ntebogeng Mokgalaka-Fleischmann says sensory gardens can help to improve health, mood and cognition - all while providing a space for physical activity.
