By Newsbreak Producer Taliesha Naidoo - A graphic video of a Cape Town businessman violently abusing his wife has highlighted the extent of gender-based violence behind closed doors. The video footage, which surfaced online, shows the husband beating his wife in their bedroom, in the presence of their young daughter. Throughout the video, the child can be seen desperately trying to protect her mother. The businessman is now facing several charges of assault. His wife and child are being legally represented by AfriForum's Private Prosecution Unit. It's alleged the abuse has been ongoing for years and that charges of assault were filed against the man in 2018, but later dropped. Meanwhile, the TEARS Foundation, has expressed their concern for the mother and child. Intervention supervisor Kavya Swaminathan says the trauma the child has faced will last with her for a very long time...
