By Newsbreak producer Tashlan Naidoo - As the South African Revenue Service (SARS) announced July 15th the start of the eFiling tax season, specialists are cautioning taxpayers to be wary of online fraudsters. SARS says the 15th marks the start of the eFiling tax season for provisional and non-provisional taxpayers, who are required to file in a tax-return form. SARS has announced that the pool of taxpayers who will be auto-assessed will increase to about four-point-eight million this year compared to around three- point-eight million taxpayers last year. SARS has also urged taxpayers whose personal details have changed to update them on eFiling or the SARS MobiApp, to facilitate an easy and seamless filing season.
