By Newsbreak Producer Matthew Veeran - The South African Meat Processors Association (SAMPA) have supported recent concerns raised in respect to the correct labelling of meat analogues - which are plant-based foods made to approximate or resemble the characteristics of meat. The association argue that the products in question - many of which are imports - are misleading and can confuse consumers. In an attempt to address these problems, the Department of Agriculture recently issued a directive that requires incorrectly labelled products to be withdrawn from shelves, until they are correctly labelled.
