By Newsbreak Producer, Taliesha Naidoo - Residents of Riverlea, south of Johannesburg says police are failing to deliver on their promises.  Yesterday the Police Minister Bheki Cele travelled to the Riverlea and assured residents that specialised units will be deployed to the area to combat illegal mining. This after five people were shot dead at the weekend in violence between rival gangs linked to illegal miners in the area. SABC news reporter, Sashin Naidoo visited the area today and says no police presence was seen, contrary to the Minister's promise....

This after analysis has proven that drinking and driving largely contributes to road fatalities in the country. Therapeutic Manager for The South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Rudhika Naidoo, says a ban on drinking and driving is welcomed, however work needs to be done to do the same with being under the influence of drugs while behind the wheel...
