By Newsbreak Producer Tashlan Naidoo - Non-Governmental Organisation, Chefs with Compassion are appealing for help in their campaign to end food insecurity and malnutrition in South Africa. As the groups "5 million meals" initiative comes to an end, it has rescued over one thousand four hundred million kilograms of food which would have gone to waste. It is estimated that 10 million tons of food goes to waste each year in South Africa, while 20 million people go to bed hungry each day. The initiative began at the start of the covid19 lockdown in 2020, and was a way to help those in need. Chef Coo Pillay says they are now trying to make the project a sustainable one...
