Patel stands accused of the 2015 killing of his first wife, Fatima Patel. The trial has been postponed several times over the years. Fatima was beaten by a baseball bat and shot at the couple's home in Nirvana, Polokwane. Transport Minister Barbara Creecy is pushing for a zero-tolerance drinking and driving law proposed through the National Road Traffic Amendment Bill. This after analysis has proven that drinking and driving largely contributes to road fatalities in the country. Therapeutic Manager for The South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Rudhika Naidoo, says a ban on drinking and driving is welcomed, however work needs to be done to do the same with being under the influence of drugs while behind the wheel...
