By Newsbreak Producer Matthew Veeran - Miss Deaf South Africa 2023 finalist Portia Lauren Naidoo is on a mission to help bridge the gap between the country's hearing and deaf communities. The young teacher-in-the-making from Johannesburg says the Miss Deaf SA pageant has given her a platform to inspire other deaf people - especially children - that anything is possible. Lauren also commented on Sign Language becoming SA's 12th official language recently - saying it was long overdue. In this interview Matt spoke to Lauren about her hopes and aspirations.
