Because even while technology advances at an astonishing pace, radio still finds itself relevant and as popular as it's ever been. It isn't a visual medium so it's one of the only forms of information whereby you can be doing something else - like driving for example - and enjoy the news, music or whatever may be on the airwaves at any given time, safely.
