The deal would both restore Ukrainian grain exports, all while easing Russian grain and fertiliser shipments. South Africa imports about 30% of its grain from Ukraine. The war has caused global price increases in wheat, oil and fertiliser among other products since February. Agri SA Executive Director, Christo van der Rheede says this is also good news for South Africans, but cautions that prices may not reach pre-conflict levels anytime soon...
