These subjects are important as they are often referred to as gateway subjects, especially if a learner wants to pursue careers in engineering, science and the technology fields. CEO of the PROTEC non-profit organisation, Balan Moodley says recent matric results in these subjects have seen a worrying decline - and it's due to a number of factors. He says the COVID-19 pandemic and learners avoiding subjects such as Physics is contributing to South Africa's dire unemployment rate...
