By Newsbreak Producer, Taliesha Naidoo - Member of Parliament in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature, Les Govender has received an international award for promoting the Tamil language in South Africa. Govender was bestowed the prestigious Valar Tamil Mamani Award from the Madras Tamil Development Society on behalf of the International Academy for Tamil Language and Culture at Chennai in India, last week. The award recognizes Govender's efforts, since the year 2000, in advocating for the teaching of Tamil as part of the South African school curriculum. Govender says he is humbled by the recognition..
