By Newsbreak Producer Tashlan Naidoo - Paying tribute to his literary hero: 17 year old Tashmeer Chetty from Phoenix, north of Durban will perform some of the late playwright and author, Ronnie Govender's most acclaimed works at the 1860 Heritage Centre in Durban. The Avonford Secondary is part of a line up including Betty Govinden and Pregs Govender for a memorial dedicated to Ronnie Govender. He passed away on the 29th of April 2021 at the age of 86. He is best known for his 1970s play "Lahnee's Pleasure" and his collection of short stories "At the Edge and Other Cato Manor Stories". As Youth Month kicks off, Chetty says more importance needs to be given towards Govender's work in the education system...
