By Newsbreak Producer Shanell Daniel - The Indian indentured labourers - who first arrived in SA in 1860 - were quite financially savvy for the time and used the little they had to built their lives and pave the way for the generations that followed. As Newsbreak commemorates the 161st anniversary of their arrival this month, historian Dr. Juggie Pather says they were able to leave a lasting legacy of hard work. Dr. Pather says the lessons learnt from the indentured labourers are adaptable even in modern times - especially now during the COVID-19 pandemic...
