By Newsbreak Executive Producer Salma Patel - The iconic Asherville Pool in Durban is being refurbished by the community after it was decimated by the recent floods. Officially known as the Balkumar Singh Swimming Pool, the venue has hosted hundreds of swimming events, lifesaving classes and was a safe option for families to gather on hot Durban days. The pool was built after numerous requests by Balkumar Singh and his team of life-savers and was established on June 2nd, 1957 - the first swimming pool to be built in a former Indian Area. Arvashini Singh, the granddaughter of Balkumar Singh says she is pleased that the Asherville Ratepayers Association is now working with the municipality to restore the swimming pool to its former glory...
