By Newsbreak Producer Rachel Vadi - Originally a primary school, the Protea Secondary School in Chatsworth, south of Durban have experienced long-term issues with their ablution facilities. Since the school became a secondary institution, the toilets have remained suitable for use for younger, primary school learners. In recent times, the school toilets have begun to deteriorate to a point of non-usage. Now, as part of their social development program, the Sibaya Community Trust have donated funds to assist in the upgrade of these facilities. The aging toilets had asbestos roofing which further posed a health risk to the learners and the intervention is set to minimise this risk. School principal.
