#PODCAST: Calls intensify for gender parity in sports this womens month

By Newsbreak Producer, Tashlan Naidoo - The South Africa Women and Sport Foundation are calling for the pay gap between men and women to be bridged and for equal resources across the board. The conversation around pay gaps in sports has been heightened in South Africa after Banyana Banyana's recent historic Women's Africa Cup of Nations win. Banyana earned R8-million in prize money which was later boosted to R15- million with each player receiving R380-thousand each. Their male counterparts each received R520,000 in 2019 for reaching the quarterfinals and were promised R920-thousand each should they bring the cup home. Meanwhile, South African women have so far picked up 14 out of 27 medals at the Commonwealth games in Birmingham in the UK. Chairperson of the Foundation, Ntambi Ravele says their annual National Advocacy Conference will be held on the last weekend of this month looking at ways to further fight for equality...
