By Newsbreak Senior Producer, Genevieve Lanka - On the 8th of June 1988, Lenny Naidu and three young freedom fighters named Lindiwe Mthembu, Makhosi Nyoka and Nontsikelelo Cothoza, were shot dead in an ambush at Piet Retief at the Swaziland border. The four activists were returning to South Africa to continue with the struggle when they were brutally killed by apartheid forces. In connection with the murders, apartheid-era assassin, Eugene de Kock, together with 14 other former security policeman appeared before the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Amnesty committee, seeking amnesty. They were linked to three incidents of murder that took place in KwaZulu Natal, where they killed nine ANC members in four days. Today marks 34 years since their horrific murders. Friend and member of the Lenny Naidoo Development Institute - Jurie Thaver - says the only way to carry forward their legacy is to continue in their selfless example....
