By Newsbreak Producer, Taresh Harreeparshad - Durban convict Nithia Chinnasamy who was on day parole while serving life imprisonment was gunned down in Dalpark, Johannesburg. Chinnasamy was sentenced to life imprisonment and an additional ten years for murder, attempted murder and kidnapping in 2000. He was since granted day parole- where he was allowed to leave the prison in the mornings. He was fetched from the Boksburg Prison by a friend, and when the driver left to open the gate, a vehicle pulled up, firing several bullets at Chinnasamy. He died on the scene.
