 Tim Purdon, former U.S. Attorney from the district of North Dakota, talks about the lawsuit against North Dakota Secretary of State Al Jaeger on behalf of the Spirit Lake Tribe and six other individuals. The complaint alleges that North Dakota's new voter ID law, which requires voters to have a residential address listed on their IDs, is "creating problems that could potentially rear their head on election day and prevent people from voting." Purdon not only explains the difficulties tribal members are encountering in obtaining IDs to be in compliance with the new law, but says that the bigger concern is marginalization. "This has a real risk of disenfranchising voters on the reservation.
