Today in Sports Kenta Maeda picks up first win as a Tiger as Detroit beats St. Louis 4-1.  Tigers have Thursday off. Minnesota increases winning streak to 10 games, 7 straight over the White Sox with a 10-5 win in Chicago.   Sox are off today Cubs blank the Mets 1-0.  Cubs and Mets close out 4 game series today at 1:10. Boston advances to 2nd round of NBA playoffs after beating Miami.  Dallas takes a 3-2 series lead over the Clippers.  In the NHL, Dallas wins game 5 3-2, also leads the series by that same 3-2 score.  Edmonton wins series with LA in 5, after winning 4-3. Illinois Governor says no to Bears stadium plans. HS sports from Wednesday.

Cubs fall to the Mets 4-2.   Meet again tonight at 7:10. Twins with 9th straight with 6-5 win over White Sox.   Sox and Twins meet again at 2:10 this afternoon. Miryssa Nelson of Coloma Softball is our WSJM Sports Player of the Week Coloma went 4-0 for the week with a sweep of Fennville 15-0, and 16-1,  Then the Comets swept Parchment 13-3 and 13-7. Miryssa was the starting pitcher in both of the opening game wins.  Against Fennville she allowed 1 hit and struck out 6 and against Parchment, she allowed 6 hits and had 2 earned runs while striking out 3. At the plate in the leadoff position, she's batted .750 for the week with 7 singles, 2 doubles, 4 walks, scored 8 times and had 5 rbi and stole two bases. She has a .621 batting average this season. Miryssa is currently a senior at Coloma high school and has a 3.9 GPA.  She also plays volleyball and basketball.

Today in Sports Detroit smashes the NFL Draft attendance record with over 775,000 fans flooding downtown Detroit over the three day draft.   Beating 600,000 by Nashville in 2019. Tigers take 2 of the 3 with Kansas City after beating Royals 4-1 on Sunday, Tigers home again tonight at 6:40 against St. Louis, 6:15 on WSJM. White Sox beat Tampa Bay 4-2 and complete three game sweep, improving record to 6-22.   Sox home vs. Minnesota tonight at 7:40. Cubs fall in 9th inning to Boston 5-4, Cubs remain out east as they visit the NY Mets at 7:10. NBA and NHL playoff results.

Meet Kyan...he is just a big softie! This sweet boy came to us as a stray. Kyan loves to go for walks, and does pretty well on a leash! He has just enough energy to get some playtime in, but not so much that he is overwhelming with his size. Kyan doesn't mind other dogs, and he enjoys snuggles with his favorite people. He weighs around 75 pounds, is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. We estimate him to be 1-2 years old. Ellie Howard of Our Lady of the Lake girls soccer is our WSJM Sports Player of the Week.  The Lakers went 3-1 over the week, falling to Kalamazoo Hackett, but defeating Covert, and then beating Niles and Dowagiac in a Saturday tournament. Ellie had 5 goals and an assist in the three wins, including a hat trick against Covert.   Ellie is a junior and in the classroom, she has a 4.3 GPA
