John’s guest this week is Dr. Jonathan Utley, the author of Going to War with Japan–1937 to 1941. This follows the program where Utley traced the context of the relations with the Great Powers involved in World War I which set the stage for the coming Second World War. He traces the steps taken by the US government and industry vis-a-vis the Empire of Japan, many out of public view, which preceded and brought about Pearl Harbor and America’s position of fighting a two-ocean war.
