Former LA factory of famed Japanese cracker brand has a new life

For decades, the brand Umeya meant celebration in Japanese American homes as the go-to for crisp, soy-sauce-glazed rice crackers.

Now, the same factory site in downtown L-A where the crackers once came off the line has been transformed into homes. LAist Josie Huang has the story.
