The junta led by Lieutenant-Colonel Paul Henri Sandaogo Damiba overthrew the government of President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré last. January, accusing it of powerlessness in the face of jihadist groups and of not having demonstrated effectiveness in the fight against the corruption.
