Week Seven of the high school season will be a big week across Louisiana. Several district races will feature top-10 teams and unbeaten rivals battling each other as they jockey for position in the power rankings. Meanwhile, some schools will take a break from their district slates to face competition that will help them prepare for the challenges the playoffs will pose.

Unfortunately, Week Seven will also be a week for some communities to heal following acts of violence. A shooting near Thibodaux High School's stadium forced officials to cancel the remainder of last Friday's Thibodaux/Hahnville game. Another shooting in Jonesboro during homecoming week claimed the lives of two people, including the son of the Jonesboro-Hodge's head football coach.
