The Truth Behind Morgan Wallen’s Abrupt ‘SNL’ Exit. Sydney Sweeney & Glen Powell Are Not Dating. Diddy’s Defense Will Be ‘Freak Offs’ Were Consensual.

Published Mar 31, 2025, 12:32 PM

Morgan Wallen’s abrupt exit during the closing credits of Saturday Night Live wasn’t just a harmless misstep, despite what his team claims. Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell are not Hollywood’s newest It Couple, despite rumors sparked by their appearance together at a Dallas wedding rehearsal dinner. Sources close to the embattled music mogul say his team is ready for the firestorm — and they’re not shying away from the headlines about his so-called “Freak Off” parties.

Rob is joined by his dear pal Garrett Vogel from Elvis Duran and the Morning Show with all the scoop. Don't forget to vote in today's poll on Twitter at @naughtynicerob or in our Facebook group.

Yo, welcome to me naughty but nice show. I'm your host, Rob Shooter, and it is Monday morning, which means idea friend Garrett Vogel is joining us. Hey, Garrett are you there?

Good morning Bobs.

Hello, my friend. You look dapper today, and I actually have some clothes on because we're recording this episode.

Well, you know what, we might as well get on the bandwagon. As they say, right, everybody's doing it. Everybody wants to want to not just hear, they want to see what we look like. And here we are.

I hope we don't disappoint. I hope we look okay. I brushed my hair ever so quickly I put on appoint a jump disappointed, very disappointed. You look great too. So this is what we see each morning. We've been doing the show now for four five years, just the audio, but today is the first time we're going to do some video, and Garrett's going to do whatever he needs to do with this. I trust you totally, Garrett. I do ask though, if ever I do scratch my nose or maybe poke my eye, maybe that's not the scene the clip to use.

Well, yes, so, because normally that's like a little you know, that's you and I talking behind the scenes where you scratch your eye. I'm like, oh, I know what Rob saying. It's a cue, No exactly. We would be bad poker player.

We would be bad poker players. As you say as you pull your ear, which means let's get on with the show. Okay, what time is it, my friends? It is indeed time. Okay, big story at the top of the show. So I don't know if you saw this over the weekend. It's on a little late for me. I've got to be honest. I love Saturday Night Live, but a Saturday night I'm either out or I'm in bed. However, I do watch it the next day. I tape it. Morgan Wallen, who is a huge, huge country star, kind of controversial, has said stuff in the past that he regrets, really ugly, ugly stuff. Well, he was on Saturday Night Live. Now they go on and they always sing two songs, Garrett two songs on the show. It was quite interesting that his second song appeared to be a little moved up. Normally it's the same slot in the show, but on Saturday it seemed like a little bit of different timing. However, that's not the controversy. The controversy is at the end of the show when all the cast get on stage. I love this moment to say goodbye and they hug each other great. It's a really lovely moment. And the credits take like a minute to roll, so it's a little awkward they have to stand there, but it's sort of like a curtain call and a music hall if you can see a play and they come out and take a bow. That's what it reminds me of. He walked off, so he walked out of the shot, and then he posted on social media that he was returning to God's Country, implying that New York City Saturday Night Live, NBC thirty Rock is not a place where God is now. I hit the phones. It was like, what is going on here? I was told the cast never really liked him from the moment he turned up. He didn't really fit. Often they asked the musical performer to be in one of the sketches. He didn't really want to do that. He's got history with SNL. He was meant to be on SNL during the pandemic, but he got canceled because he was caught at partying without her masks. They said, no, he did go back, and so I think this was just a bad fitch. You know what it's like when you turn up in a place, a bar, you turn up to meet some friends and you just don't fit in it just vi vibe.

You know, it feels like a force friendship, you know what I mean. Like Lauren Michaels knows what he's doing. You know, Morgan Walla can sell out stadiums across the world. So Lauren Michaels for him to go, how we can't have him on the show. You know, it'd be hurting the show. So he's looking for the He's being open to everyone. But here here's the thing, and you know, as being a former publicist, we're getting three two different stories. So the publicist goes, well, you know Morgan exited and entered that same way, and and it was like, okay, maybe he messed up. But then Morgan goes on social media not only ninety minutes after, which means he made a bee line straight out of thirty rocks and I are in New York City for him to get from where he is to Titterborough. That he was going very fast, very quickly, yet to get out of New York possible, almost like a movie with a superhero movie trying to escape in New York. Then then he posts that, you know, back to God's Country. So did he met did he not know where he was going and left the stage early or did he not want to be there? Like, don't give me.

Both right, right right? And let's remember everybody, he wasn't rushing like you or I Garrett to jet Blue. We were going to miss the flight. This is a private plane. We'll wait, he decides. When this play takes off, it doesn't.

And the after parties, I know it didn't get it going.

On sometimes silly, and I think there's some politics involved, and we don't do politics on this show, but I think that might be a a little bit involved here. They just didn't like each other, and I think the cast members of SNL really upset about the N word that he used. Then there's a lot of people of color on that show that work behind the scenes. It was frosty when he walked in. It was like when Sarah Palin appeared once that was a little bit frosty. Although I'm told she charmed them. She was funny and sort of cute, and she went to the after parties and she they yes, yes, right, And so it's quite difficult. I've done this, and I'm ashamed to admit it. I've met people and before I've met them, their reputation, their history, their aura has walked in the room first, and I've already pre judged them. I try not to do that, particularly in the world that we're living in today, Garrett, where it's so easy to hate somebody right away. I try not to do it. And I find the people that I might be the most judging about are the ones that I end up having a great night with.

Right, And you know what the other thing I was thinking about too, of why things just didn't probably click for Morgan and the cast. The man has gotten several chances, you know, like if you're you're lucky, maybe you get a second chance. He's gotten like he's on his sixth He's like a cat. He's like, you beyond nine lives at this point.

He is. Anybody else would have been canceled. I know, we hate that cancel culture. But there's gotta be some consequences, I guess, but there isn't any here. It's really it was a bad thing. But then I spoke to somebody really seen here at SNL. And remember I was at SNL with Ashley Simpson when she lip sinc. So I've been at SNL when a melt down happens. So let me tell you they both loved it. SNL is loving this. They're not embarrassed. They love the attention. The lead story on our show on a Monday is something that happened on a Saturday night until the credits.

On the credits, not even the show.

This has legs. We're talking about it. SNL loves this attention. Morgan loves it too. He's clearly not somebody that minds a bit controversy because he's always in it. So I think he posted that deliberately too. He could have just slipped out, but no, he wanted a big exit the social media post. You both win here because your fans, Morgan's fans are gonna love what he did. SNL fans are gonna love what they did, and so I think it all sort of works out for everybody here, which brings us to our pole question of the day. Morgan Wallen left Saturn Date Night Live. Do you think all this was premeditated? Do you think when he turned about that studio that night, he was like, you know what, I'm gonna get a lot of press and I'm gonna walk off at the end. Or do you think during the show something was said. Some people were saying there was a very very tough segment on Donald Trump during the weekend countdown. What's that part the news post we end up the weekend update? Maybe that might have set him off a little bit. What do you think was this pre planned or was this spur of the moment? Take a vote on our Twitter page at Naordy niserb Our facebook page is new to d and the sure to check back tomorrow to hear your results. Hey Garrett Love, what are you working on?

Well? This is one of those like I told you so moments where it feels like I told you so a moments. So Sydney Sweeteney Glen Powell they are not a couple, allegedly, despite all the wedding buzz rumors. So they were actually hanging out in Dallas over the weekend to Glenn Powell had a wedding and you know two I guess single people you know as friends one you know it's a rub. It's like me calling home, going, Hey, I got no one to roll with to this wedding? Would you like to come? H would you think would happen? Like? Of course you.

Think we would make The rumors would be that we were a couple. Everybody, the wedding would be like we.

Would be denying it on Monday morning as I walk off the stage on SNL. But they attended Glenn's sisters, and it was Glenn's sisters. It was a family as his plus one. Being a plus one at a wedding is something right there. It's not just for it's not just anyone. And this was months ago, so yes, months ago. Was she still engaged to her fiance? Yes, but was it on the rocks? Probably ever since anyone but you came out about two years ago. But you know, they're great friends, that's what the source says. They've always had fun energy. But there is no romance here. I call BSBSBS. You're telling me a slow dance between those two at the wedding, there was no type of chemistry. You're telling me that they didn't steal the thunder from Glenn's sister as they slow danced.

That's very good. That's a really really good question. I was told they actually tried very hard not to do this. When celebrities go to weddings, they have a choice to make. I've known a few celebrities who have been to weddings, not mine. I didn't invite any, but I do know celebrities that go to weddings. They have a choice to make. Do they want to be the center of attention which they know how to do like this like turning on a light switch, or is it.

Not their dame?

I think you have to go for the latter. A lot of celebrities can't do that. They really like the spotlight. Howard Stern gave some great advice once. Howard Stern said that whenever anyone on his staff get married, they beg him to come to the wedding, and he said, I would give you an amazing wedding gift. I won't come because if I come, the whole wedding's going to be about me.

Your parents, does that?

Your relatives? Who does that? Sorry?

Tell her Swift does yes. So like when fans say, hey, can you come to my wedding? Now? She has done it on occasion where she'll pop up because she's having dinner or a recording session right around the corner, and she'll pop in and play a song. But for the most part, she'll send a card and you know, congratulations Medda.

It's better the few famous people I know. I got great wedding gifts from them, thank you very much, But they didn't come to the wedding. Now, Garrett, you know some famous people too. When you got married. Did you have famous people there? Did you want people from your job there? Did you want Elvis there? Did you want them there?

Well, you wanted the people from the job there. I mean there was one awkward moment where not even a relative like a relative's uncle that you know, you get really deep when you start inviting relatives uncles. Uh, he wanted he wanted the Morning Show to sign a napkin. Oh like at the like he was walking around with a napkin to get like this. Yeah, I think this guy it is sweet.

I recently went to a wedding of a friend of mine who works at the Today Show. Rahoda and Savannah and Matt Lower were there and the table that I was sitting with they didn't sit at the same table, but.

I was.

With Matt's the table, so I sat at the Matt lower table, and there was two really great, great guests who were starstruck. They had grown up watching Matt Lauer on NBC, and despite all the controversy and that that certainly exists, they were a little bit starstruck. They were not showbiz type people and they wanted a picture with Matt and I knew they wanted it.

Did you get the picture?

I did it. I said, Matt, take a picture. And it just made their nice And it was so simple. But it wasn't like having somebody there to steal the moment. That was quite reserved. And who did steal the moment? Who was at this wedding? Amy, Roebeck and t J. I see on that Dad's floor. I saw you would not being subtle. You they liked the attention.

But back to Sydney and Clinton, by the way, I don't feel like they were trying to steal the attention. It just naturally goes just comes to them. You got two hot people who are two megastores gets out there who were probably just acting as normal as you and I would on the dance floor. Just hang, I don't know.

How normal that would be, Garrett, you and me on the dance floor could be quite spectacular.

We would leave separation for the Holy Spirit, as they say in the school. But but Sidney, sweet, I think they're so chill. But the problem is that they're so chill that people are like, oh, this is normal. They're they're like us.

My sources say they are not dating. They are.

No, I'm going to say otherwise. My sources, which is me and my gun my gut, says yes.

No, they are not dated. Okay, moving along, we have an exclusive. We know what did His defense is going to be and you're not gonna like this. So he is going to claim that the free COFs were consensual. Yes, he's kinky, but that is not a crime. So the high stakes trial it's going to begin really really soon, and they're not shying away from the headlines about the so called free coffs like often you would want to be like, oh my goodness, let's bury that. I don't want to talk about that. They're going to lean into it and they're going to say, yes, he's kinky. He likes kinky sex. He likes dominant submissive sex. That is his things. He likes sex workers, he likes video and people. But it's all consensual. I'm told too that they're going to provide some receipts. There were several sex workers that did he hired, who came back several different times. And when you pay somebody for a service, even if the service is illegal, there might be a document of that, a credit card bill or money exchanged, and so they're going to say that. The other thing too, that I think so interesting is they're going to call a lot of witnesses. Now, remember I worked with Diddy. I'm not one of these witnesses. But see we're gonna claim and I saw this, it was true. Whenever did he entered a nightclub or a bar, people threw themselves at him sexually. Of course, I was with Puff and we went into a club, and the amount of people, boys and girls who came over to the VIP area and wanted to get behind that little velvet rope, we've all seen them, and the bottles are on the table and you don't pay for them. They would have done things that we probably wouldn't have. And this is not just did I worked with John bon Jovi. When I was with John, people threw that he was a married man. He still is. They threw themselves at John, that's gonna be their defense. What do you think do you think it will work?

I mean, all it takes is one or two people in the jury and and you know you got you got the case in your favor. So it will be interesting to go that or out now. But I feel like changing changing the idea and the course of like, okay, it was consensual now versus we know, don't do anything though. Those oil bottles aren't for us, you know. It's just like they're throwing so much out there. It's going to be hard to determine what is real and what's not.

Mmmm. Yeah, that it's gonna be tricky. But as you say, Gret, if they can convince one or two people. I know him, he's really charming. He's going to turn up in that courtroom and he's going to be puff the magic dragon. He is going to be full died.

I mean I could tell you right before any of this came about, and he was promoting that his latest album that came out before all the controversy, and I got to sit with him for a few minutes, and you know, and I think it's one thing. He can look you straight in the eye. You know what I mean. And if you have anyone celebrity or a normal person and you make that connection by looking someone straight in the eye, you had that other person kind of locked in and hooked. And he was doing it and he was like, hey, you know, thanks for saying all that stuff, and you know, I do appreciate that, and you know, we worked hard on us.

That's the reason that he potentially got away with this for so long. Okay, we're going to take quick and we will be right back. Welcome back to the Naudy but nic Sha, I'm you host Rob Shooter with her dear friend Garrett Loogal. Hey, Garrett, let's get to the polls that are die. The last share we talked about, Kelly Clarkson your favorite. You love Kelly Clarkson, She's your favorite celebrity. Kelly Clarkson is telling her in a cirtle, this is such a Kelly thing to do that her kids come first, not her TV show. Do you think she'll quit the show? So the reason this has come up is Kelly disappeared from the show for about a week and never really explained why why that happens. Some some talk about maybe somebody was ill, in the family mindside is telling me she just wanted a break. She was just doing a daily show like that. It's a grind. They do two shows a day, and it's a lot to do, and they're there for hours. I know it feels like they only work for sixty minutes, but that is not true. It's a full day process.

Twenty minutes and we have cut I mean.

That's right. So it's a full time job and Kelly's a little over it. And so the question was, do you think she might quit the show? Will she walk away from the show. Let's also point out to she's very close hoder Hoda walked away from the Today Show to spend time with her kids. She really did, right. It's unheard of for people.

To Jimmy Kimmel. Jimmy Kimmel takes the summer off with his family.

To be the family. So do you think Kelly will do it? Let's have a look. Seventy percent said yes, you think you think Kelly's about the kids. I did too. I think she's a and it's never been about the work for her. Even though she's successful, terribly successful, she's not that driven. She's not like a j lovel she's not that pushy, She's cool.

Do you think that she just celebrated her one thousandth show a week or so ago? But in there they had a montage of Kelly and her kids on the show. Now, do you think that was more of tugging at Kelly's arge strings of look at the memories that you've created over the thousand, because they really didn't do like a montage of like Kelly laughing. What celebrity is.

That Kelly and the kids? It's the kids all the stuff tell me that And this is why Kelly is such a good person, Garrett, And you really do like a great celebrity here. It's not just her. If she leaves this show, one hundred people need a new job. The man of people that work on her show. It's staggering. And she really takes that very seriously. So whatever she does, it won't be spare. At the moment, she's gonna really think about it. Kelly, we love you. Whatever you choose, it's the right decision. Hey, don't forget to vote on today's Paul. Go to our Twitter page, I'd not nicer arbor our Facebook page which is naughty simp and be sure it's a check back tomorrow your results in that's term for a noisiest of the day.

And well, I feel like dejevu because like when one one door closes, another one opens and that and that's what a Rod is looking at as he's reaching out to Jennifer Lopez post Ben Affleck split. I mean, do you think do you think he has moved on from Jennifer Lopez? I think not. So. Sources are saying that he's he's talking to Jennifer again, which you know he's talking to Jennifer, but we don't know if Jennifer's talking back to him, you know what I mean. So it might just be like you know, like the text messages, it's like, well maybe the worries fine, eventually it's like a screen of hellos and how are you You know, people are saying that a Rod feels like, you know, there's there's unfinished business, aka, he really hasn't gotten over it. I don't think anybody really would get old.

I don't know if you get over I think it's sweet that they're speaking if you find an ex or somebody in a bad place. Let's let's admit Jennifer's going through some issues here, reach out, send a text. We're going to take This is the nicest of the day, but it could lead to the naughtiest. But we're watching you in other ways. That the nicest of the day today. And now I noticed the day naughty, naughty, naughty, Pat say, Jack is ruffling feathers by returning to Wheel a fortune. Let me explain. So Pat is coming back to do a prime time special. This was already in the works, This was in the carright well. Mad people are saying, poor Ryan, he's only been on the job a little while, and now the king is coming back, and it's drawing a comparison, and it's probably not a good comparison for Ryan to have. So some people are saying, Pat, you're going to retire. Retire. It's quite cruel when somebody from the past keeps popping back up. I'm on team Ryan here. I think Pat, it's not the right thing to do. Ryan's now the host of the show. It's Ryan's show, and I don't think I would do it if I was Pat.

I agree, Yeah, you have to. I mean, even on Jeopardy too, it is weird two hosts, and you know, then they eventually just fig figure. Let's go with Ken Jennings.

Yes, make a decision. It's Ryan's show, Team Ryan. Okay, let's end with a moment of rob Success is a numbers game, so start playing. We're so scared of uncertainty that we always want to guarantee before we even try. I want to be guaranteed, Garrett, that if I go and talk to that hot guy in the bar, he'll say hello. I want to be guaranteed that if I start a podcast it will do really, really well. Well, let me tell you that does not exist. There are no guarantees. We want proof that it will work. And the proof is taking that leap of faith and moving forward. And that's how life works. In this game of life, you've got to play to win. You've got to be in the game. So keep going, keep moving forward, and take that shot.

Proofs in the blood pudding, as you would.

Say, absolutely, my friends. Hey, that is it for today. Thank you so much for listening and potentially watching. That sounds good. The Naughty but Nice with Robin Garrett Show. We're a production of iHeartRadio and Elvis Duran. Don't forget to subscribe on the iHeartRadio app Apple podcasts wherever you listen, leave us a review if you can. They really really do help. It's not even nice with Rum
