View descriptionShare

The NAPLEX Podcast is one of the many programs available at AudioRx.study; the leading non-CE Audio Education Platform for the profession of pharmacy. Our host is Dr. Chloe Givens, PharmD.

Using audio to supplement your studies can have a significant impact on how you absorb & retain the information you’ve read, and AudioRx.study is a “forever learner” listening library of audio sessions that can be accessed while on the go! The NAPLEX Podcast is the first show dedicated to helping pharmacy graduates prepare to take The North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination, and each episode of the podcast will provide listeners with a thorough review of pharmacology & pharmacotherapy topics that were taught during the didactic portion of pharmacy school.

While recent PharmD graduates and current pharmacy students can utilize this content to help supplement their NAPLEX studying, pharmacists can also use this audio content as an on-the-go resource to reference in practice.

Learning through listening can save a lot of time, and AudioRx.study is perfect to access while commuting, on your lunch break, during a workout, or even while preparing your favorite meal in the kitchen! It’s truly audio learning ON DEMAND!

AudioRx.study is a member of Shift.Health & the Pharmacy Podcast Network.

This episode is the third episode in our calculations review and parenteral and enteral nutrition are the two big concepts that will be discussed. Parenteral and enteral nutritional support will be seen in hospitalized patients who cannot eat enough on their own to maintain their nutritional needs. This is common among those who have suffered a stroke, patients who are in a coma or even those who have certain GI issues that prohibit them from taking in nutrition by mouth. Enteral nutrition will deliver nutrients directly into the patient’s GI tract, while parenteral nutrition requires access through a vein. This episode provides a detailed review of several concepts regarding calorie requirements, how we determine a patient’s fluid needs, and what electrolytes will need to be added to our TPN bags for our hospitalized patients. Just like in episode 9, 10 & 11, several example calculations will be provided so listeners should ensure they have a piece of scratch paper handy to follow along!
