Dr. James Gordon — Harvard-trained psychiatrist, founder of the Center for Mind-Body Medicine, and author of Transforming Trauma — has spent 50 years healing people in places most of us can't imagine: war zones, school shooting sites, and communities torn apart by violence. He was also there on the Mall in 1963, when Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his I Have a Dream speech — and that sense of what's possible has never left him.

He joins hosts Martin Luther King III, Arndrea Waters King, Marc Kielburger, and Craig Kielburger alongside his godson Matt Lombard — a man whose life Jim helped hold together after losing his mother at age 11.

Together, they reveal how:

  • Trauma is a wound that can become a doorway to growth
  • Unresolved trauma changes your DNA and can be passed down three generations
  • The belief that you can't heal is the only thing standing between you and healing
  • Forgiveness isn't for the other person — it's how you stop carrying what's not yours
  • Soft belly breathing and dancing are two science-backed tools you can start today
