Brainrot is not a new term, however in the mid 2000’s the rise of Internet culture re-introduced this term to us and then again recently through Gen Z and Alpha. As former Police Detective and Creator of Lighthouse Cyber Education Rebekah Nijsen explains, "it’s (brainrot) used to describe the rewiring we are doing to our brains through overconsumption of mindless and useless content online generally in short form entertainment."
