It's time for our Scripture of the day to get it delivered to your phone. Text the word scripture to (800) 969-9467.

Well, here we are this morning on this fine Monday, and we are looking at Colossians three, verses one through four. It says, if then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. We know that God's Word is true. It is trustworthy. It is complete. And in his writing to the church at Colossae, Paul preached the message that Christ was Lord over all creation of all things seen and unseen. And that message was that Christ redeemed all of mankind, and therefore all who were in Christ are co-heirs, participating in the death, the resurrection, and the wholeness of life through Christ. Just as to those in the church at Colossae, well, it is you who are the co-heir to that throne, and this is an amazing story that is weaved all throughout the word. And the word is what leads us to life. You see, we who are dead in our sin have been raised and have eternal life through the acceptance of Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior of our lives. It is no longer we who we live for, but rather him who we live for. And this is because God has worked through Christ to redeem and reconcile each life of the one who places their trust in Christ. The right and proper response to this is that we, as believers, who have been called to grow in our spiritual maturity, turn away from our sinful ways. Increase then in holiness by striving toward Christ likeness, producing a more righteous life. You see, we must keep our eyes fixed upon Christ to defend against this world who Jesus tells us is going to hate us. In second Corinthians five and verses six through nine, it summarizes that whether we are here in this life, within this body, or we are in the presence of the Lord, we should make it our aim to be pleasing to him. And so when we dedicate ourselves to pleasing God, we will in the end be closer to the mark than if we had not sought to be pleasing to him at all. But in this life we have Christ, who calls us to a higher purpose than anything we can find in this world, among its pleasures and its enticements. And this is because we have been set apart. And that, my friend, is good news. So today, dedicate yourself to the Word of God. Pursue the higher call that leads to a godly life, because this is the gift that has been freely given to us of God's grace.
