As the Navi Mumbai International Airport becomes operational, Central Railway has introduced two new stations — Targhar and Gavan — on the Uran suburban rail corridor to strengthen last-mile connectivity for passengers and airport staff. Located between Panvel and Uran in Navi Mumbai, these stations are strategically positioned to ease access to the airport zone and reduce pressure on existing nodes like Panvel. Speaking to Malishka, Central Railway CPRO Swapnil Nila explained that the new stations are part of a broader plan to improve suburban rail infrastructure in Navi Mumbai, offering faster, more convenient public transport options and supporting the region’s growing travel demand linked to the new airport.
