After only hearing about the good things going on with property I bought my first investment at the age of 22 🙌🏼 It was a huge milestone that I'd been working towards for many years but I was naive and uneducated 🤡 in this space which led to a massive missed opportunity 😣

Over the subsequent years I built a successful career in recruitment but knew I wanted a way out at some point. To allow me to pivot into something else I knew investing was an avenue to provide me the ability. Even though I'd bought a dud 👎🏼 as a novice investor I was able to turn it all around ↩️ with the help of buyers agency, InvestorKit which was my missing puzzle piece 🧩 to be successful in real estate investing. I purchased 4 more properties over the course of 2.5 years and held a portfolio of 5 properties by the age of 30, now worth $2.7M 🚀

This experience has ignited my passion ❤️‍🔥 to prevent others from making large financial commitments to an asset that doesn't produce the outcome they're hoping for 💸

I'm now working as a Buyers Agent, partnering with InvestorKit (Buyers Agency of the Year 2023 🏆) who is known for their industry leading property market insights and data-driven decision making in uncovering the top performing locations across the country. 

As a Buyers Agent I represent the buyer in the real estate transaction providing full end-to-end service from;
- strategy creation ♟️ and portfolio mapping 📍 
- discovering outperforming locations across the Australian property market 📊
- sourcing desirable properties both on and off market 🔎
- networking with real estate agents 📞
- negotiating at relevant stages of the buying process 🤝🏼 
- ensuring a property is successfully settled and tenanted ✅ 
- all whilst helping my clients stay accountable to their long term investing goals 💪🏼

I’m Scott Malcolm, I’ve always been curious to understand how things work.  When I was a kid there was that one time, I pulled apart our family toaster to see how it worked – sorry again Mum and Dad!

When I became a financial planner – fresh out of Uni in 2000 I had the same desire to get a deep understanding of the money stuff and how to make it work for you.

What I have learnt and seen working with clients is that the Money stuff is no different.  If you have an understanding of how the system works and how you relate to it, you can empower yourself for a better financial future.

My aim of this podcast is to give you money insights as we ‘look under the hood’ and unpack how the financial system works, and provide some stories around clients situations I have worked with over the last few decades to give you greater understanding of you and the money in your life.

We will kick of our first series to look under the hood and unpack money in the context of the Australian financial system.  While tax and retirement systems change between countries the fundamentals and foundations of money are a shared human experience.

Financial planning weather you are doing it yourself or paying for professional advice, is all about having a decision making framework in place to navigate your life transitions as you move through startup phase, accumulation phase and then into retirement or financial freedom phase.
