US Markets Wrap: Will Q1 Earnings Season Turn Markets Around? And are rate cuts are delayed till further notice?

View descriptionShare

2024 may not be the Year of Change, but we’re seeing some promising Q1 earnings right there this week. Both Bank of America and Morgan Stanley topped expectations. Buybacks and dividend increases were on the rise in Q1. On this episod of US Markets Wrap, Mark Newton, CMT, Managing Director & Global Head of Technical Strategy at Fundstrat Global Advisors shares his insights on whether Q1 earnings season turn markets around?

With the Wall Street stocks ending little changed as markets digested mixed economic data and Federal Reserve commentary suggesting interest rates would remain high for longer, Mark also weighs in on whether rate cuts are delayed till further notice, when the Fed is expected to make its next move, how long worries over geopolitical tensions will last, as well as the implications of the faster economic growth in China in Q1 2024.
