Subway, Toast Box and Breadtalk are all well-known franchises. Customers often pay a certain company a sum of money to use their brand and supply chain. Buyers get to operate under the business model in return for paying them some royalties. It is therefore a win-win situation. But it is surely more complex than that and like any self-respecting independent business owner, one would have to invest time and effort into their business.
