Talk of the Town: Should we monitor the health of migrant workers in the haze?

View descriptionShare

As haze blankets Singapore, many of us can retreat indoors, limit outdoor activities or put on a mask. But what about migrant workers who spend hours working outdoors, often in physically demanding jobs? When the air becomes unhealthy, do they have the protection they need, and can they afford to stop working?

Benjamin Kuan, CEO of HealthServe, and Ethan Guo, Executive Director of TWC2, join Let’s Talk, Singapore to examine the health risks migrant workers face during haze episodes, whether existing workplace safeguards are sufficient, and what happens when workers are expected to continue working in poor air quality.
