Under the latest changes to the Maintenance of Parents Act, parents who abused, abandoned or neglected their children will not be able to seek monetary support from them. They will have to seek permission from the Tribunal for the Maintenance of Parents, before proceeding with their claims, to avoid putting victims through undue distress
