Morning Shot: Is China Drifting Towards a 'Singles Society'?

View descriptionShare

Coming on the back of mounting considerations behind setting up a family - China is seeing a generation of Chinese choosing to stay single, childless, and as some call it - "lie flat" - a Chinese expression that means doing just enough to get by - and save money for future travels.

This is one of the key factors driving China's population down for a second consecutive year while its new births reached historic lows. With beliefs shifting, is China headed towards a single society?

On this episode of Morning Shot, Ross Darrell Feingold, Research Director, Caerus Consulting weighs in on the issue.
