Investigators probing the deadly crash of Jeju Air Flight 2216 in South Korea have retrieved the initial data from one of the aircraft’s black boxes and are in the process of finalising the transcript of the cockpit voice recorder, which may hold clues to the final moments of the flight.
179 people died after the plane crashed into a structure and exploded, making it the deadliest plane crash on South Korean soil. The Boeing 737-800 plane was travelling from Bangkok when it crash-landed at Muan International Airport and slid into a wall off the end of the runway, bursting into flames and killing everyone on board except two crew members.
