Five months after the sudden closure of The Projector, a familiar team is returning to a familiar space. Filmhouse is set to open at Golden Mile Tower, taking over the former three-screen cinema, retaining its murals, hall names, and much of the spirit that made the venue a cultural fixture for indie film lovers.

But this is more than a reopening story. John Lui, Senior Film Correspondent, Straits TImes joins the Breakfast Show to discuss bigger questions about sustainability, audience support, and whether independent cinemas can still survive amid rising costs and changing viewing habits.
