Morning Shot: Can ASEAN rise to be an influential global convening power?

View descriptionShare

Southeast Asian leaders are calling for swift agreement on a code of conduct for the South China Sea based on international law, while demanding an immediate halt to fighting in Myanmar and inclusive peace talks to end its civil war.

That’s according to the ASEAN chairman's statement representing the consensus from meetings between leaders from the bloc’s member nations, and diplomats from the United States, Russia, China, Japan, India and South Korea.

On this episode of Morning Shot, Kei Koga, Associate Professor from the School of Social Sciences at NTU shares his insights on the key issues discussed at this year's ASEAN Summit.
