A restaurant in Malaysia recently sparked debate after charging customers a surcharge for sitting in an air-conditioned section. In a tropical climate where many of us plan our meals around escaping the heat, the move has raised plenty of eyebrows.

But is it really that different from paying more for better seats, better views, or premium experiences? And if it happened in Singapore, would you be OK with it or would you walk out?
