Singapore’s rules on how much floor space developers can build could be getting a rethink.

The URA is reviewing its gross floor area guidelines to give developers more flexibility in how they design and use buildings, while also encouraging features that improve heat resilience and thermal comfort.

So what could the review mean for Singapore’s property market, ageing buildings and the future of the CBD? And could greater flexibility make it easier to preserve heritage buildings while still making redevelopment commercially viable?
