A new study from NUS Medicine is challenging the idea that we naturally become less active as we age. Researchers tracking nearly 2,000 adults in Singapore found university students were the least physically active group, spending more than 10½ hours a day sedentary, while adults in their 70s recorded significantly more physical activity.
So why are young adults moving less than their grandparents? And what does this reveal about student life, screen time and the way we spend our days?
On The Agenda, Hongbin Jeong speaks with Dr Ong Ju Lynn, Research Assistant Professor from the Centre for Sleep and Cognition at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, to unpack the findings.
