The Agenda: Should young singles be allowed to buy HDB flats before 35?

View descriptionShare

For years, single Singaporeans have had to wait until the age of 35 before they could buy an eligible HDB flat. But that long-standing rule could soon be up for review.

With the Government carefully considering whether the eligibility age for singles should be lowered, following years of expanding public housing options, the landscape has already begun to shift. So, what could a lower age threshold mean for younger Singaporeans? Would it provide greater independence and a clearer pathway to home ownership, or could it create new challenges for Singapore's public housing system?

On The Agenda, Nadiah Koh speaks to Stanley Wong, Senior Associate District Director, Propnex, to find out more.
