Asian economies are at the front and centre of our discussion today. Over in China, President Xi Jinping delivered a wide-ranging speech at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party on Sunday where he laid out the party’s plans for the next five years.
The speech, which lasted for around 2 hours, covered a range of topics from Taiwan to the country’s plans to support development, economic growth and what it calls “common prosperity”. But what would these plans mean for China going forward?
Meanwhile, concerns over inflation and interest rate hikes continue to dominate investing sentiment for the week with Japan reporting their annual inflation figures, and Indonesia reporting its interest rate decision later this week.
On Market View, Prime Time’s finance presenter Chua Tian Tian broke down these developments with Dong Chen, Head of Asia Macroeconomic Research, Pictet Wealth Management.
