“Sandwich generation” is an emerging term referring to individuals undergoing financial burden to support their ageing parents and their own children. At the same time, this generation themselves also have to handle their own needs in daily life. With such pressure, pursuing financial independence after retirement is a growing trend among the 40-to-60 age group in Singapore.
