Ride-hailing was once seen as the convenient — and sometimes cheaper — alternative to taxis. But many commuters in Singapore start to feel that a private-hire ride is more expensive lately. 

Several ride-hailing platforms have raised their platform fees, and depending on the time of day, the difference between apps can be quite significant.
