MWP September 2: ASX slides, even with gold records offsetting 🛝

Local stocks extended their winning streak to a third straight day, with the ASX 200 jumping 79 points, or 0.9 per cent, to finish at 9,086.

We even caught a glimpse of history today, with the index hitting a fresh all-time intraday high before settling just shy of a new closing record.

The Australian sharemarket has climbed for a third consecutive session today, with the ASX 200 gaining 48 points, or 0.5 per cent, to close at 9,007. It was a broad-based rally, with materials being the only sector of the 11 industry groups to miss out on the gains.
