That work has been republished by his son, who is National University of Singapore Professor in the departments of Sociology and Malay studies, Syed Farid Alatas. Prof Alatas joins Michelle Martin to discuss why the less than humanitarian historical actions of Raffles have gone woefully unexamined for so long.
